Recording Studio

Gerry Stinson Audio's recording studio is located on private property in St. Cloud, Minnesota. The large multi-room facility was built with a "building within a building" approach. The outside resembles a typical large pole building, but the inside is a completely different story.

Starting with one of the largest mixing/mastering suites in Central Minnesota, the central nervous system of the complex is based around Sony digital consoles, multi-track hard drive recorders, and the new quad processor Mac running Protools. Typical nowadays, right?

The special qualities of the mixing suite, both sonically and ergonomically, are derived from gear from Dave Hill and Crane Song, SPL of Germany, Weiss equalizers from Switzerland, Sony Pro Audio, Legacy, Telefunken, Neumann, Shure Bros, and Rapco Custom Cabling Shop. Gerry's large vintage synthesizer collection also lends a strong hand to the sound shaping.

Recording can be approached in multiple ways because of the flexibility of the system. Here you have a mixing/mastering suite with complete and total recall of all settings, including patching of inputs, outputs, effects, key patches, all headphone mixes, and selection of monitoring speakers. This allows versatility and simple returns back to make changes to the final stages of mixes. It also takes a lot of pressure off!

GSA has one of the largest MIDI installations in the Midwest. Sampling, complex electronic programming, soundtracks, and professional dialogue editing are all available.

GSA offers professional mastering. Mastering consists of the final treatments to a recorded work before it goes off the replication/duplication house. It is full of science and extremely important for the client in achieving a professional product. The music is analyzed, treated, and outputted through world-class devices that lift the music to it's highest potential, while still leaving it full of dynamics and life.
